Surge Emergency Response Team (SERT)
National Humanitarian Network (NHN) and ActionAid Pakistan joined hands under Transforming Surge Capacity Project to provide human resource for emergency response by developing a national roster. Roster is focused on rapid deployment of technical experts for CAT-II emergency l on “Assessment, Food Security, Shelter, Wash, Protection and Logistic sectors”.
Objectives
- Ensuring right people on the right place in CAT II emergency during surge
- Enhancement of Surge Capacity of roster members at national level
- Enhancing local surge capacity through promotion of collaborative and localized surge
What is SERT Roster Management?
Roster is a pool of candidates who have already been vetted as viable candidates through the application process and who are ready for immediate selection for emergency response.
The basic aim of the SERT roster is enlisting the right people, ensuring they receive proper training, maintaining availability for deployment, retention – they continue to constitute a key tool for providing additional human resources when surge is needed.
Once you are included in a roster, you will be regularly contacted by e-mail to either confirm your continued interest in upcoming job openings, or you may choose to temporarily put on hold or permanently withdraw your roster candidature.
Recruitment and Selection Process of SERT Members
Following process is followed for recruitment and selection of Surge Emergency Response Team (SERT).
- Step 1: Job Advertisement
- Step 2: Long listing
- Step 3: Competency Self-Assessment
- Step 4: Panel interviews
- Step 5: Notification email to selected candidates.
- Step 6: Reference Check and Finalization of SERT membership
Maintenance of the Roster Membership
- Roster members will renew their membership on a roster on six monthly basis
- After every 6 months roster members will be asked by the lead agency to re-confirm their availability. If a roster member is unavailable within a certain timeline (e. g. 6 months), or is simply not responding, he/she should be excluded from the roster.
