NHN Pakistan in collaboration with Pakistan Resilience Partnership presents the webinar on Cash transfer mechanism transforming humanitarian assistance. The webinar was conducted on 7 January 2022. The field perspectives and future directions were discussed with the particpants who belonged to national local civil society, government official and people from acedemia. 

About the Speaker

Mr. Wajahat Ali’s professional career spreads over 18 years. He has worked (regular and as freelance consultant) with various renowned INGOs such as British Council, Oxfam International, International Rescue Committee, Save the Children, Mercy Corps, Islamic Relief etc. designing and leading a number of projects, programs, strategies & studies in East Africa, Middle East & South Asia. He has been instrumental in developing the humanitarian architecture in Pakistan and globally. He remained part of the pilot rollout of Cluster System in Pakistan in the wake of 2005 earthquake. He also extended his contributions in developing and rolling out the humanitarian coordination systems in Kenya (Kakuma Camp) and Jordan during 2012-14. He actively contributed in the development of Global Minimum Standards for Child Protection during the year 2010-12. He has also been supporting/leading various researches, evaluations and impact assessment studies in country and internationally.

National Humanitarian Network Pakistan

A volunteer network, founded in 2010 in result of interactive dialogue in National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) “to act as an independent and vibrant voice to engage with stakeholders throughout Pakistan for promotion of humanitarian values by influencing policies and building capacities to ensure right based humanitarian response”. 172 humanitarian organizations are members of NHN from across Pakistan and it is open for all national and local organizations engaged in humanitarian assistance or disaster management advocacy.  NHN focus on “Effective and Accountable Humanitarian Governance” – mainly in Response and Disaster Preparedness through four major areas i.e. “Coordination/networking, Advocacy, Capacity Building and Information Management”.

NHN is a key network in Pakistan which is well connected with various stakeholders and demonstrated its effectiveness to do proper advocacy and lobbying for access, space and principled response. NHN supports stakeholders in collecting and timely sharing of critical information for preparedness and response as its members are spread across Pakistan and even in hard to reach areas.
