NHN in partnership with ICVA and National Institute of Health presented the first webinar of the series on Covid vaccination. The main objective of the series is to brief the public on the Covid vaccine in order to tackle the vaccine hesitancy in the public. 

About the Speaker

Dr. Mumtaz Khan is serving as Senior Scientific Officer in Field Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Division of the National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad. He is also Coordinator/Faculty member of FELTP Pakistan, National Focal Person for Infection Prevention & Control and Project Coordinator Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). Dr. Mumtaz Ali Khan holds multiple degrees in the field of Medical Science i.e. MD (AFG), MS in Public Health and Hospital Administration (PAK), MS in Community Health and Nutrition (PAK), MS in Public Health, MS in Field Epidemiology. He has done Fellowship in “Field Epidemiology from (CDC-USA) and Post Graduate Trainings from China, Japan, Malaysia, WHO Geneva. Dr. Mumtaz has almost 20 years of experience in the field of clinical Pediatrics and Public Health. For the last 10 years, he is working as Field Epidemiologist and Training coordinator at Field Epidemiology & Disease Surveillance Division, NIH Islamabad. He is having vast experience of outbreak investigation and response. He has represented Pakistan in more than 32 international conferences/meetings and presented 28 research papers in international conferences. Dr. Mumtaz has played a pro-active role in COVID-19 response. He remained was actively involved in making National Action Plan for COVID-19, remained focal person for COVID Response at NIH, performed as Team Lead for Rapid Response Trainings and Simulation Exercises at all Airports and Ground crossings and Setting Quarantine Center at Taftan in Feb 2020.  Keeping in View his extra ordinary services during the COVID-19 Pandemic, he has been granted appreciation certificates and shields and was also nominated for National Award during 2020.

National Humanitarian Network Pakistan

A volunteer network, founded in 2010 in result of interactive dialogue in National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) “to act as an independent and vibrant voice to engage with stakeholders throughout Pakistan for promotion of humanitarian values by influencing policies and building capacities to ensure right based humanitarian response”. 172 humanitarian organizations are members of NHN from across Pakistan and it is open for all national and local organizations engaged in humanitarian assistance or disaster management advocacy.  NHN focus on “Effective and Accountable Humanitarian Governance” – mainly in Response and Disaster Preparedness through four major areas i.e. “Coordination/networking, Advocacy, Capacity Building and Information Management”.

NHN is a key network in Pakistan which is well connected with various stakeholders and demonstrated its effectiveness to do proper advocacy and lobbying for access, space and principled response. NHN supports stakeholders in collecting and timely sharing of critical information for preparedness and response as its members are spread across Pakistan and even in hard to reach areas.
