NHN Volunteers - Stronger Together
National Disaster Management Act 2012; stipulates National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) "To co-ordinate response in the event of any threatening disaster situation or disaster and lay down guidelines for or give directions to concerned authorities regarding measures to be taken by them in response to any threating disaster situation or disaster".
National Humanitarian Network, by developing a database of volunteers from its member organizations is aiming to facilitate NDMA to achieve its commitment under the National Disaster Management Act 2012. Voluntary participation in Disaster Management activities will help address challenges during complete spectrum of a disaster.
NHN is focused to develop volunteer team along with expert’s roster (SERT) which can successfully contribute through a valued system. The main purpose of the initiative is strengthening volunteers support towards disaster response activities on regular and sustainable manner. The overall goal of the initiative is to develop a strong disaster response mechanism and environmental management for community resilience through mobilizing volunteers and integrating the critical force of volunteerism as a substantive resource.

The initiative will set a following set of comprehensive activity for engaging volunteers in regards to deal disaster response activities by linking them with SERT and NHN members.
- Disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
- Community based disaster management.
- School based disaster risk management.
- Contextualized early warning mechanisms.
- Creating awareness at community level.
- Engaging volunteers in sustainable manner.
- Establishing skilled-based volunteer at local level
